Final 3 Venue's Overview

Since I was not in town, I had to trust the eye of others in making my venue choice.  This can stress a bride since it's harder to visualize in pictures and you'r idea's may be different then others.  Looking at budget first, then number of guests, then preferred decor, availability, and allowance of children whittled down my choices quickly.  That the West Coast wedding was in the winter with a very close ceremony date to the rental made for a smaller list as well.  Here were the final 3 venue choices!
These are in no particular order and are all in the Puyallup/Tacoma, Washington area which is were a bulk of my extended family live.  Now, the number of potential attending guests is around 70-75, naturally I not everyone to attend but I needed to plan in case everyone did attend to avoid issues.  Here is the outline's of the final 3 venue's that I looked at and a few of the questions that were asked of the venue's, remember all this is subject to change due to inflation, season, number of guests, membership requirements, and any other possible changes a venue could experience.

Venue #1:

Kapowsin Event Center

Pricing $1,000. $300 cleaning deposit, $300 liquor deposit, both refundable. $110 liquor permit & insurance.
Room Size/Capacity
Will easily accommodate 100 people. Main room with stage/altar. Back room with kitchen and bathrooms. They provide tables & chairs, we provide linens, dishes, decorations, etc.
Hours Facility
is available? 1pm - 1am. Need several hours to set-up, so event would have to take place in the late afternoon or evening.
Separate Rooms for Ceremony & Eating All: in one room, but it would be easy to configure the room to accommodate both the ceremony and eating.
Separate Space for bride/groom No, a small unisex bathroom can be used but its cramped.
Restrictions/Inclusions None.
Allow decorating on walls? Yes, as long as it doesn't involve permanent holes or damage the wall covering/paint.
Children Allowed? Yes. Children must be supervised.
Music
System/Capabilities/DJ Yes, built in system.
Parking Availability
free or pay? Free parking available.
Wedding Insurance
Required? Yes, see liquor license
Liquor License?
Need a banquet permit from the state. Need $1M liability insurance policy. Cost estimated to be $110 for these two things.
Can't consume outside the building.
Catering Required or
Allow Self Catering?No requirements on catering.

Venue #2:

Linden Golf & CC
2519 E. Main
Puyallup, WA

Pricing: around $300 with membership and off season date plus $100 deposit (not sure if it is refundable). There is a $250 refundable deposit for the music system. $110 for liquor permit/insurance.
Room Size/Capacity
Will accommodate about 80 people, but it looked smaller. We estimate 50 people at the most.  They provide tables & chairs, we provide linens, dishes, decorations, etc. Small kitchen in one corner cove. Couches/chairs (can be removed) in another corner of the room.
Separate Rooms for
Ceremony & Eating All in one room, but it would be easy to configure the room to accommodate both the ceremony and eating.
Separate Space for
bride/groom Yes, there is a lounge that could be used as a changing room just off the main room that was very nice.
Restrictions/
Inclusions None, standard contract.
Allow decorating on
walls? Yes, as long as it doesn't involve permanent holes or damage the wall covering/paint.
Children
Allowed? Yes. Children must be supervised because there will probably be golfers using the course.
Music
System/Capabilities/DJ They have a sound system built in and a cordless microphone. But the room is small so a mic will probably not be needed.
Parking Availability
free or pay? Plenty of free parking.
Wedding Insurance
Required? Yes, see Liquor License.
Liquor License?
Need a banquet permit from the state. Need $1M liability insurance policy. Cost estimated to be $110 for these two things.

Venue #3:

Steilacoom Town Hall

Steilacoom, Wash
253-581-1076 Historical building, very elegant, with hardwood floors and a view of Puget Sound.

Pricing A 6 hour rental would cost about $810. Includes all rooms , cleaning fee, and an attendent.  $110 for the liquor permit and insurance.  $250 refundable deposit.

They provide tables & chairs, we provide linens, dishes, decorations, etc.
